INDORE: A committee constituted by Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court to probe toddlers’ deaths occurred at state-run MY Hospital visited the hospital on Monday for its finalising its report. The committee had to submit its report on October 15 in high court. The committee comprising retired sessions judge Raj Kumar Pandey, dean of Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, Dr Ulka Srivastava and one other reached the hospital to record its findings.
The committee members visited the operation theatre where two toddlers’ had died due to toxic gas supply instead of oxygen to them. The members recorded statements of Dr Brijesh Lahoti, Dr Sumit Shukla and others to prepare their noting. They also visited the operation theatre, which was sealed after the incident. The court had constituted this separate committee finding state government’s action inadequate in the deaths. The committee was constituted on July by the Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Vivek Rusia. The court had laid down guidelines for the committee to follow while probing the deaths.
On June 27 and 28, two toddlers aged 5 years and 18 months died at MY Hospital’s modular OT due to toxic gas supply being fed to them. A five-member panel constituted by state government to probe the incident submitted a detailed report but finding it inadequate court has constituted another three-member committee.
